ANZAC Day 2025: 110-year Gallipoli remembrance

This year marks 110 years since the failed march on Gallipoli. Australia suffered a great loss in the First World War, with more than 60,000 soldiers killed. As expected, most survivors returned home physically and/or psychologically wounded, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander soldiers who returned to face extensive discrimination.

In honour of their sacrifice, many people around Australia commemorate the day at local dawn services, with thousands more pilgrimaging to Gallipoli, a peninsula in Southern Türkiye.

AAG acknowledges the courage and service of all veterans, and the impacts of military service on their physical and psychological wellbeing, especially as they age.

Global Intergenerational Week 20-30 April 2025 (#GIW25)

Global Intergenerational Week (#GIW25) is a vibrant annual campaign that celebrates the power of connection between generations. This week-long event is all about celebrating the importance of bringing younger and older people together in meaningful ways.

The Australian Institute for Intergenerational Practice (AIIP)’s mission is to reconnect communities through the design, delivery and evaluation of intergenerational programs, with a long-term vision of a society where intergenerational activities are embedded into everyday life, across schools, aged care, community centres, and more!

Through two popular pre-conference workshops at AAG’s Gold Coast and Hobart conferences, AIIP showcased the practical and powerful role of intergenerational practice in ageing policy, services and research. AAG and AIIP share a strong and growing relationship, with AAG administering key components of AIIP’s operations, and together, championing intergenerational practice across Australia.

AAG is proud to support the AIIP, which serves as the official country lead for #GIW25. Former AAG QLD Division Chair, Xanthe Golenko, who resides on the other side of the world but still very much connected to AAG, is the lead for Australia.

Whether you're part of a workplace, school or community organisation, there are fun and meaningful ways to take part in #GIW25.

And the best part? Getting involved is easy! Check out what’s on at aiip.net.au/global-intergenerational-week-2025. Or, learn more about the global movement and view the promo film and campaign toolkit at generationsworkingtogether.org/global-intergenerational-week.
