The AAG Executive and National Office supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart’s call for the establishment of a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Australian Constitution.

We encourage our members to read the Uluru Statement from the Heart and engage with the Voice referendum process.

Please also see the AAG 500 blog by Professor Tony Broe, on the importance of voting ‘Yes’.

We support a 'Yes’ vote that:

  • Acknowledges and celebrates our country’s rich 65,000+ year history
  • Recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' profound connection to the land, water and sky
  • Ensures that decisions affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are guided by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices fostering more effective, informed, and just policies
  • Champions a future where the Australian constitution reflects the place of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the first peoples of the continent, and represents all Australians, building a fairer and more inclusive nation.
