International connections

In addition to AAG's international representation on the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) and the International Longevity Centre (ILC) Global Alliance (and ILC-Aus), AAG values its strong and effective relationships with other international bodies. These include:

  • The Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine (ANZSGM): As the peak professional society for geriatricians and other medical practitioners with an interest in the medical care of older people, ANZSGM sets, promotes and continuously improves the standards of clinical practice in geriatrics throughout Australia and New Zealand. It is the chief advocacy group for the profession and facilitates training and professional development to enhance the quality of care for patients.
  • The New Zealand Association of Gerontology (NZAG): As a peak body, NZAG aims to provide a forum for critical enquiry and to expand knowledge of ageing in order to contribute to the wellbeing of older people in New Zealand, and to ensure that relevant policy and practice is informed by well-founded research and evidence.
