Dr Joanna Sun has been working in the Aged Care Industry in Australia and Singapore for more than 15 years. She has been a Personal Care Assistant, Enrolled Nurse, Programme Manager and Consultant in Dementia Care and Design. She has been involved in domestic and international research as well as public sector projects in Aged and Dementia Care. Her research focuses on developing enabling and inclusive environments for people living with dementia. Dr Sun has developed and co-authored an environmental assessment tool for Singaporeans living with dementia with Prof Richard Fleming, the Singapore Environmental Assessment Tool (SEAT). They have also published a user guide on the SEAT for facilities providing high levels of care for people living with dementia in Singapore. Her research interest lies in understanding the influence of the built environment, cultural influences in dementia care, and knowledge translation. Her most recent research continues to explore the understanding of environments for people living with dementia across Singapore, Japan and Germany.
