Celene Yap

Dr. Celene YL Yap is an early career health services researcher working to reduce conflict and the use of restrictive practices in healthcare settings. Her research has explored triggers for aggression and models to minimise risk, especially for vulnerable groups.
Currently, Dr. Yap is an early career research fellow at Melbourne School of Health Sciences, leading the evaluation of multiple projects on evidence-based practice and quality improvement. She has led numerous funded studies using collaborative, mixed methods approach to identify care gaps and tailor implementation strategies.
Most recently, Dr. Yap worked with nurses to adapt the Safewards model in acute care settings. Her current primary focus lies in utilising implementation science and program evaluation to enhance health equity and improve the quality of care for older individuals with cognitive impairment. This innovative journey combines her expertise in implementation science with design thinking and participatory action research, all driven by her unwavering vision for dignified and empathetic care in the healthcare landscape.
