#AAGConf23 feedback survey

It was terrific seeing many of our members at #AAGConf23. We hope you had an informative, enjoyable and invigorating few days.

We’re keen to hear your feedback on this year’s event. What did you like the most? What could we do better? Please take a few minutes to complete this survey.

Remember, the conference app will remain open until the end of January, so you can still access sessions, posters and speaker handouts until then.

We take this opportunity to again thank our sponsors, supports and partners, and all presenters and delegates. Thank you for joining us in ‘Reimagining ageing: Diving into an ocean of possibilities’

AAG 500 blog on the stigma of frailty

This month’s AAG 500 blog comes from our friends at Bolton Clarke, one of AAG’s collaborating research centres (CRCs).

Led by Dr Arti Appannah, this blog considers ‘The F-word: Why we should break the stigma and talk about ‘Frailty’.

Referring to the number of Australians living with frailty, and the effects of frailty on wellbeing and quality of life, Arti and her colleagues consider how to best raise community awareness of frailty, its signs, assessment and healthy ageing strategies.

Perhaps most importantly, it’s up to each one of us to break the stigma about talking about frailty.

Upcoming SECG opportunity and AAG ‘Buzz Sessions’

With all the activity around #AAGConf23, we wanted to remind you of two upcoming opportunities.

Calling SECCG members

AAG is partnering with Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia (ARIIA) to deliver the Innovator Training Program (ITP) to AAG Student and Early Career (SECG) members. Participation is open to 10 current SECG members, on application. The program is free for participants and involves around 21 hours in total, over six weeks.

AAG and ARIIA will select and confirm participants in early January 2024, with the program due to start in March 2024.

Apply by sending the completed application form to [email protected] by 5.00 pm AEDT on Thursday 30 November 2023. Details and links to the documents are on the SECG web page.

AAG Buzz Sessions

Our new Policy and advocacy hub on the AAG website shares details of the upcoming AAG Buzz Sessions. These are short, focused sessions in which we capture the ideas and insights of our members and key stakeholders, to inform practical, feasible and sustainable innovation in ageing and aged care.

This year, we are holding three online sessions, all on Zoom:

#1: Wed 29 Nov at 1 to 2pm - For the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing Advisory Group (ATSIAAG)

#2: Thurs 30 Nov 2023 at 1 to 2pm - open to all members

#3: Fri 1 Nov 2023 at 1 to 2pm - open to all members

Join us, share your views and hear from others studying and working in this space. Links to the sessions are on the web page. You can also email [email protected] to discuss a proposal.
