Hello from #AAGConf23

Today, we come to you from #AAGConf23 on the Gold Coast. It's another huge event, filled with the familiar excitement, interest and fun we always enjoy. This year, we have over 500 delegates and about 220 speakers. Thank you for joining us!

We acknowledge the generous support and sponsorship provided by 31 different organisations, and encourage #AAGConf23 delegates to visit their booths in the exhibition space. Be sure to look at the 30 posters on display while you're there.

AAG Buzz Sessions

Do you have an idea for a project, but don't know where to start? Are you keen to write a report, conduct an evidence assessment or develop a partnership?

Engage with AAG's Policy and Research team in a collaborative effort to meet our shared goals.

AAG Buzz Sessions are short, focused sessions in which we capture the ideas and insights of our members and key stakeholders, to inform practical, feasible and sustainable innovation in ageing and aged care. This year, we are holding three online sessions, all on Zoom:

#1: Wed 29 Nov at 1 to 2pm - For the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing Advisory Group (ATSIAAG): Follow this link to join in Zoom

#2: Thurs 30 Nov 2023 at 1 to 2pm - open to all members: Follow this link to join in Zoom

#3: Fri 1 Nov 2023 at 1 to 2pm - open to all members: Follow this link to join in Zoom

Join us, share your views and hear from others studying and working in this space. Email [email protected] to discuss a proposal.

Congratulations to Post Polio Victoria Inc

In T3 on 20 July, we shared the report Recognition at last: People ageing with Post-Polio Syndrome, which describes the challenges experienced by those ageing with Post-Polio Syndrome (PPS) and recommends ways service providers could better support their needs. AAG is proud to have collaborated on this work with Post Polio Victoria Inc. and Celebrate Ageing.

Today, we are delighted to announce that Post Polio Victoria recently won the 2023 Focus on Ability Short Film Festival, for their entry to the documentary category. Lives well lived: Hopes, dreams and surviving polio features Shirley Glance OAM, Dr Peter Freckleton and Robyn Abrahams. Congratulations to you all!

The Focus on Ability annual International Short Film Festival challenges filmmakers to create a five-minute film that celebrates the achievements and abilities of people with disability.
