Come along to the AAG Divisions Catch-Up

At this year's conference on the Gold Coast, AAG's National Office will host a catch-up for all AAG Division executive committees. We invite members of all Division executive committees to come along to meet the National Office team and get to know each other without the challenges of geography. Over a drink and a snack, we'll share ideas and achievements, and discuss how we all work together to achieve our local and national success. More importantly, we'll have fun!

When? Tuesday 14 November 2023, from 3.30 to 5.30 pm
Where? Southport 3 room, The Star

Registration is not required. We hope to see you there!

New handbook on research in ageing

Hot off the press! The new Routledge International Handbook of Participatory Approaches in Ageing Research presents established and innovative perspectives on involving older adults as co-creators in ageing research.  A notable chapter within the Handbook, titled  'A service provider approach to rights-based research' is co-authored by AAG's Communications, Advocacy and Grants Manager, Dr Meg Polacsek.  This contribution was crafted when she was senior researcher for Benetas.

The Handbook presents different types of participatory approaches in ageing research, highlights key methodological aspects of these approaches and examines key issues to consider when involving older participants at each step of the research process. Importantly, it includes the voices of older adults directly.

The handbook is open access (free online), but printed versions can also be ordered.

Frailty 'Hypothetical' debate

Who remembers Geoffrey Robertson AO QC's 'Hypothetical' series?

The NSW Frailty Taskforce invites you to attend a hypothetical-style discussion on 'Frailty is reversible... Or is it?'

This free online event will explore care for older people living with frailty and is open to anyone who provides healthcare to older people living with frailty, or at high risk of becoming frail. This includes clinicians, managers, consumers, and carers.

Just like Geoffrey Robertson, a scenario will be posed in 'hypothetical' format, cross-examining a selected panel of experts to discuss its ramifications, in front of a live virtual audience.

Date and time: 2.00 - 3.00 pm on Thursday 9 November 2023
