AAG pre-conference workshops

The 56th AAG Conference takes place from 14 to 17 November, on the Gold Coast. And AAG's popular pre-conference workshops are back in 2023. This year, we have six workshops taking place on Tuesday 14 November 2023.

  • End of the rainbow: Models of care for LGBTIQ+ people with dementia
Presented by AAG's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI SIG), in collaboration with LGBTIQ+ Health Australia, Dementia Support Australia and Deakin University

  • Telehealth for rural older people: Panacea, problem or somewhere in between?
Presented by  the AAG Regional, Remote and Rural Special Interest Group (RRR SIG)

  • Developing skills in delivering a short and engaging 'elevator pitch'
Presented by AAG's Student and Early Career Group (SECG), in collaboration with Emerging Researchers in Ageing

  • Publish before you perish: Writing for scholarly journals
Presented by Australasian Journal on Ageing (AJA)

  • Co-designing intergenerational programs and Thinking outside the box: Measuring intergenerational practice in creative ways
Presented by Australian Institute of Intergenerational Practice (AIIP)

It's a difficult choice, but the schedule allows for morning and afternoon sessions. Information on each is available on the conference website (click on the workshop heading to go to a detailed description). You can register for a workshop without attending the conference, but of course we hope you'll come along for the whole four days.

If you're on the workshop page, you'll also see that there is an 'AAG Division catch-up' at 3.30 pm on Tuesday 14 November. More about that in next week's T3.

Intergenerational expert to visit four AAG Divisions

Back in a March issue of T3, we proudly announced that AAG's Gary Andrews International Fellow (GAIF) for 2023 is Professor Shannon Jarrott. An international expert in intergenerational practice, Shannon will give the GAIF keynote address at the AAG Conference in November. She is also part of the Thinking outside the box: Measuring intergenerational practice in creative ways pre-conference workshop, hosted by the Australian Institute of Intergenerational Practice.

As part of her fellowship, Shannon will also visit four AAG Divisions, where she will share her insights and experiences with local members and guests. While some details are being finalised, Shannon's schedule sees her present at AAG Division events in:

Details (where available) are on AAG's events page.

Australasian Journal on Ageing Volume 42 (Issue 3)

The September issue of the Australasian Journal on Ageing is now available.

As an international journal, AJA continues to reflect matters related to ageing across the world, in particular in our 'neighbourhood' of the Australasia-Oceania region. In this Issue, AJA revisits the topic of falls management, with two invited editorials to mark the launch of a virtual issue on 'Falls and fall-related injury: Ascertainment, risk and prevention'. Thanks go to Dr Morag Taylor, who facilitated its production.
