AAG 500 blog: Digital storytelling

In this month’s blog, AAG members Mark Silver and Lysha Lee explore the transformative potential of the Positive Ageing Digital Storytelling Intergenerational Program (PADSIP).

Mark is a social worker and Clinic Co-Director of the Swinburne Wellbeing Clinic for Older Adults and co-chair of the Australian Institute of Intergenerational Practice Advisory Council. Lysha is a PhD Candidate at Deakin University and National Ageing Research Institute, Research Coordinator at the Swinburne Wellbeing Clinic for Older Adults, and convenor of Australian Institute of Intergenerational Practice Student and Early Career Group.

Under the titled Connecting the Generations: The Transformative Power of Intergenerational Digital Storytelling, Mark and Lysha explain how digital storytelling involves using multimedia elements to document first-hand experiences to convey emotionally relatable stories, while the intergenerational dimension fosters meaningful engagement between the different generations. The blog includes links to two videos from PADSIP.

Sarcopenia and frailty conference

The 6th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Sarcopenia and Frailty Research (ANZSSFR) will take place in Melbourne from 22 to 24 May 2024.

This event brings together clinicians including geriatricians, rehabilitation physicians, endocrinologists, rheumatologists, general practitioners, allied health professionals and scientists with a research interest in all aspects of sarcopenia and frailty and the role of exercise, nutrition, and pharmaceutical approaches to address these conditions.

The theme of this year’s meeting is ‘From Lab to Life: Bridging the Research to Practice Gap for Sarcopenia and Frailty’. The program will showcase new knowledge on preventative and treatment strategies for sarcopenia and frailty, and how these approaches may be translated into clinical settings.
