AAG500 Blog: Housing and chronic disease

This month’s AAG500 Blog looks at housing insecurity and homelessness and their far-reaching health consequences for older people.

Brought to you by members of the AAG Housing and Built Environment Special Interest Group (SIG), the post explores how people experiencing homelessness are at significant risk of poorer health outcomes, while at the same time, poor physical health, chronic illness, and worsening mental health can push older people into precarious housing or homelessness.

Read this and more member blogs on a variety of ageing and aged care topics online.

Want to be more involved? AAG members can login to AAG Community and join the Housing and Built Environment SIG to share expertise and help influence change.

Call for papers: Ageing and Neurodiversity

As the population ages, increasing numbers of people with lifelong neurodevelopmental conditions are reaching later life. Despite this, research, policy, and practice often overlook the intersection of ageing and neurodiversity. This special feature aims to highlight innovative research, practice, and policy initiatives that address the health, social, and support needs of this diverse and growing population.

The Australasian Journal on Ageing (AJA) is pleased to announce a forthcoming Special Feature to explore the experiences, challenges, and opportunities faced by older adults who are neurodivergent, including those with autism, intellectual disability, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental differences.

Key Dates

  • Submission deadline: 30 October 2026
  • Publication: articles published online as they are ready, collated into special feature mid-2027

For more details, visit the Wiley website.

To discuss potential submissions, email: [email protected].
