Featuring another fantastic panel facilitated this time by AAG President Anita Westera and including Natalie Siegel-Brown, Inspector General of Aged Care; lived experience and aged care advocate, Gwenda Darling; Samantha Edmonds, Older Persons Advocacy Network, and Lisa Rollinson, Brotherhood of St Laurence.

#AAGConf2026 is going to be BIG! Record abstracts received

The AAGConf26 in Melbourne this year is buzzing with excitement, having received a fantastic total of 572 abstract submissions! That's a remarkable 100 more than in Hobart in 2024, and 62% more than the last time in Melbourne, back in 2018.

You have made it abundantly clear - the annual AAG national conference is truly special and recognised as the leading, evidence-based, multi-disciplinary event, bringing everyone together to share valuable insights on ageing and ageing research.

And this year is no different! We’re excited to announce international guest, Dr Jennifer Walker.

Dr Walker is a member of Six Nations of the Grand River, holds a PhD in Community Health Sciences (Epidemiology) from the University of Calgary, is a Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Health Data and Aging at McMaster University, and an Associate Professor at the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact. A passionate co-lead of the Indigenous Cognitive Health Program within the Canadian Consortium for Neurodegeneration in Aging, her research has made meaningful strides in developing culturally safe methods for dementia prevention and diagnosis.

We’re thrilled to have Dr Walker’s involvement as a speaker throughout the AAGConf26 pre-conference program, including the AAG Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing Stream and the Australian Institute for Intergenerational Practice and Australasian Journal on Ageing (AJA) Publish Before You Perish workshops.
