Announcing our newest AAG Conversations series: Issues that Matter

Issues that Matter is a new series of AAG Conversations where we take deep dives into important issues and questions that impact the experience of ageing within an Australian context. Connecting with leaders and experts within the ageing and aged care sector, these valuable discussions will support and contribute to our annual AAG Hot Topic, while also providing valuable member feedback and contributions to AAG’s policy and advocacy work.

This month we kick off Issues that Matter with Episode 1:

Building a System for Healthy Ageing in Every Community: Does Australia need a National Healthy Ageing Strategy?

📅 ONLINE | Wednesday, 27 May 2026 | 2:00 to 3:30PM AEST
🎫 Free for AAG, ANZSGM, NZAG & GCA members | $50 non members

With a rapidly ageing population, a National Healthy Ageing Strategy may provide the clarity, coordination, and ambition needed to build a system that supports people to age well, across the life course, while looking after older people now.

This 90-minute discussion brings together experts from geriatric care, primary health, design and the built environment, sociology and local government, including:

  • Tracey Johnson, Chief Executive Officer, Sandstone Healthcare Group
  • Dr Barbara Barbosa Neves, Sociologist of technology and ageing, Sydney Centre for Healthy Societies
  • Dr Phillippa Carnemolla, Senior Research Fellow in Faculty of Design Architecture and Building, University of Technology Sydney
  • Lui Di Venuto, AAG Vice President, Team Leader Active Ageing, City of Onkaparinga, SA

Don't miss this important conversation to examine the critical difference between managing aged care and enabling people to age well.
