Call for case studies: Rural, Regional and Remote Ageing

Do you have a program, project or partnership that’s making a real difference for older people in rural, regional or remote communities?

AAG is inviting submissions from our members for a new National Showcase highlighting innovative and best‑practice initiatives that improve the lives of older people living, ageing and working in rural, regional and remote communities.

As part of our evidence‑based advice to the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability, and Ageing, we are developing a portfolio of case studies that show how practitioners, researchers, services and communities are responding to the unique challenges faced by older people and the services that support them outside metropolitan areas.

This is an opportunity to shine a light on creative, impactful solutions emerging across Australia — whether small or large scale, research‑based or practice‑led. We welcome submissions across the ageing and aged care sector, including services, researchers, local organisations and community groups, that:

  • Address challenges of living, ageing or working in rural, regional or remote communities
  • Demonstrate innovation, partnership, lived experience engagement and/or culturally informed practice
  • Share clear outcomes, impact or lessons learned.

Selected submissions may also be invited to present at a special National Showcase Webinar in 2026, hosted by the AAG Regional Rural and Remote Special Interest Group (RRRSIG). Please note: no separate application is required to participate in the National Showcase Webinar. You can also check out previous showcases and presentations here.

Submit your case study today!
Case studies close 5:00PM, Tuesday, 26th May 2026

Let’s highlight the strength, diversity and impact of Australian ageing research on the global stage!

The IAGG2026 World Congress in Amsterdam is fast approaching, and many AAG members will be showcasing their work on the international stage. We want to help celebrate and promote the breadth of Australian ageing research represented at the Congress.

AAG will be profiling member presentations and posters across our newsletters, social media, and community channels. If you are presenting a paper, poster, symposium, or workshop at IAGG2026, we’d love to hear from you.

To be included, please email [email protected] with:

  • Your name
  • Presentation or poster title
  • Session type
  • Date and time (if available)
  • Institution or organisation
  • A short 2–3 sentence summary

Beware of predatory congress websites!

IAGG has advised that several predatory congress websites are advertising supposed gerontology and geriatrics congresses that impersonate IAGG2026. IAGG alerts all members and delegates to be aware of possible scams and strongly advises only using the official IAGG2026 registration and accommodation booking system for all bookings.
