New report: Ageism and serious healthcare harms

A recent report by the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) on ageism in healthcare reveals that older Australians frequently face unfair treatment, including being ignored or excluded from decisions regarding their care. Ageism can significantly impact health, resulting in poorer outcomes, slower recovery, and even premature death.

The Commission emphasises the need for urgent reforms, such as enhanced training, inclusive care approaches, and increased research to address age bias.

Read the full AHRC media release and access the report for more information.
