Happy birthday, Ruth! AAG Royalty turns 100, offers award

AAG is delighted to acknowledge and celebrate Ruth Inall OAM - one of AAG’s founding members – who celebrated her 100th birthday on 5th July 2025.

Ruth has graciously used her milestone birthday to create an award that honours AAG’s history and its role in founding the Asia-Oceania Region of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics. While the specifics of the award are still being finalized, AAG members and supporters can contribute to Ruth’s meaningful legacy.

Read more about Ruth, her contributions to AAG and global impact in a special edition of the AAG500 Blog by AAG Board member, Keryn Curtis. Keryn recently attended Ruth’s 100th Birthday celebration in Walcha, NSW.

A video of Ruth (courtesy of Keryn) speaking at the celebration is also available for viewing.

Share your views with AAG: National Human Rights Act

We are pleased to announce that AAG has joined the new Human Rights as We Age Network, convened by the Australian Human Rights Commission. The Network will work together to promote human rights for older adults, including supporting the development of an international legally binding instrument on the human rights of older persons and pursuing a national Human Rights Act and Framework.

The Network would love to know your thoughts, specifically:

  • Q1: How might a national Human Rights Act help protect the rights and well-being of older Australians now and in the future?
  • Q2: What practical effects could a national Human Rights Act have on older Australians?

Share your views by emailing Andrea at [email protected].
