#AAGConf24 is pleased to host the focal and timely plenary panel discussion, “Fresh thinking on aged care in Australia’ chaired by Robert Fitzgerald AM, Australian Human Rights Commission, Age Discrimination Commissioner.

This discussion will consider the key reforms associated with the Aged Care Act (2023), the principle of rights-based care, and how the reforms may impact attitudes toward ageing and the competitive private for-profit market. Will regulation in itself be enough to improve the lives of older people, or will it just be more of the same?

Register now to join this thought-provoking conversation and hear from an exceptional line up of panel members, including:

  • Leon Flicker AM, AAG Life Member and Director of the Western Australian Centre for Health and Ageing (WACHA) and inaugural Professor of Geriatric Medicine, University of Western Australia, since 1998.
  • Mr Saul Eslake, One of Australia’s leading independent economists, and member of the Australian Parliamentary Budget Office’s Advisory Panel.
  • Prof Kathy Eagar AM, Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of New South Wales and Faculty of Health, Queensland University of Technology.
  • Ms Alison Standen, Chief Executive Officer at Corumbene, and former Member for Franklin in the Tasmanian Parliament

Models in assorted 60s fashion and a man playing a guitar

The 2024 Gala dinner is proudly supported by Dementia Support Australia.

To coincide with AAG’s 60th birthday we have a 60s theme! It’s time to unleash your inner retro as #AAG travels back in time to 1964 when it all began!

Go bold with bright colours this year with eclectic prints and chunky accessories – the bigger the better - including the hair! The iconic 60s were known for breaking the rules with styles influenced by world events, pop culture and, of course, the Beatles. So, dig out those go-go boots and turtlenecks you’ve been hoarding for decades. It’s time to get groovy!

If you still haven’t registered for #AAGConf24, there’s still time! Choose the full registration to access all conference sessions across the three days, including the expo, dinner Thursday night and closing celebration. Plus, you can add on additional pre-conference workshops at check out.
