AAG 500 blog: A rights-based approach to research

In our second AAG 500 blog for 2023, we share some thoughts on rights-based research. Rights-based research prioritises the expertise of those who are most affected by the process and outcomes of the work. Few would disagree that research topics and priorities should be set by older adults and those who care for them. Is that the same as participatory research or co-design? Here’s some food for thought

We’ve had some members send through ideas for blogs, which we look forward to publishing in the coming months. Keep ‘em coming!

    In the news: EveryAGE Counts

Many of you may know that AAG is a founding member of the EveryAGE Counts national coalition to end ageism and now sits on the Coalition Steering Group. Today, we share an update on this important campaign.

EveryAGE Counts was initiated by The Benevolent Society (TBS) and launched in 2018. For the last five years, the campaign has been funded by TBS and a grant from the Wicking Trust. The goal was always that the campaign would transition to a new, incorporated, stand-alone organisation. That’s happening now: the transition to independent status is underway, with the ongoing support of TBS and its existing governance body, the EveryAGE Counts Coalition Steering Group. Existing organisational members and individual supporters will be automatically carried across into the independent campaign.

We urge you to continue supporting the new organisation and get behind EveryAGE Counts in tackling ageism in the community. Please direct any questions or comments to [email protected]
