AAG 500 blog: How the radio can support older adults’ well-being

For the April AAG 500 blog, we’re pleased to share a contribution from Dr Amanda Krause from James Cook University. Amanda is an AAG member and was a recipient of the Hal Kendig Research Development Program grant in 2019.

In this blog, Amanda describes her co-design project that resulted in the production of an evidence-based resource to assist individuals, radio providers and aged care support personnel to promote individual well-being through engaging with radio.

If you’d like to contribute to AAG 500 or write a piece, get in touch.

NZAG conference: Abstracts close soon

The New Zealand Association of Gerontology is holding its biennial conference in Auckland, in early September 2023.

Under the banner of Rethinking Ageing, our friends at NZAG are once again bringing together a range of speakers and guests to rethink ageing and showcase leading ideas about ageing, wellbeing, optimal practice and innovation.

Go to the conference website to read about the program, including international speakers. There’s still time to submit an abstract for a symposium (close 14 April 2023) and/or presentation (close 26 May 2023).

One more thing: Spam and virus blocks

Spam and virus protection programs have been going into overdrive lately, with many AAG members unable to receive or access communications from AAG, including password reset request emails. We share your frustration! If you’re having this problem, please:

  • Ask your IT administrator to put AAG on your organisation’s ‘white list’
  • Mark AAG as a ‘safe sender’ (in Outlook, click on ‘Junk’ and select ‘Never block sender’)
  • Once the password reset emails from AAG can get through to you, log into your AAG membership account and reset your password.
