His PhD investigated the effects of the National Gallery Art and Dementia program and its impact on stress responses and quality of life. 

Dr D’Cunha has worked in residential care and has family experience with dementia. He is currently leading the research and evaluation into Canberra Health Services' Sustainable Interventions for Cognition, Care and Engagement (SPICE) program, a multicomponent rehabilitation intervention for people with dementia and their care partners. 

Nathan’s research interests are:

  • dementia care, 
  • nutrition 
  • intergenerational care.

Professor Imogen Mitchel
Executive Director, Research and Academic Partnerships, Canberra Health Services
ANU College of Health and Medicine


Professor Imogen Mitchell graduated from the University of London and completed her specialist training in intensive care. In 1999, she became the Director of the Intensive Care Unit at the Canberra Hospital, which she successfully built. After 15 years, she became the Deputy Dean at the ANU Medical School in 2014. In 2017 she became Dean of Medicine at the ANU Medical School until she stepped down to become the Clinical Director for the ACT COVID-19 Response.

Her research interests are:

  • Hospital systems to improve management of deteriorating patients.
  • Hospital systems to improve end-of-life care in acute hospitals.
  • Patient safety systems
  • Medical Education

Professor Kasia Bail
Professor of Gerontological Nursing at the University of Canberra and ACT Health Directorate 


Professor Kasia Bail graduated from the University of Canberra and later completed her PhD. She is interested in care health delivery for older people with complex health needs.

 

Her research includes:

  • digital health systems, 
  • older people, aged care
  • prognosis communication, 
  • policy analysis, 
  • dementia care, nurse care rationing, hospitals, nurse practitioners
  • and the costs of nurse-sensitive outcomes.

 

Professor Stephen Isbel
Professor of Occupational Therapy
University of Canberra


Stephen is an occupational therapy academic with research interests in post-stroke rehabilitation, driver rehabilitation, dementia care, public health, and occupational therapy education. He is the Discipline Lead of Occupational Therapy at the University of Canberra and teaches Master's and bachelor’s degrees in occupational therapy.

Stephen's research interests are:

  • Post-stroke rehabilitation
  • Dementia care
  • Occupational therapy education
  • Driver rehabilitation
