Individual membership

We offer six different types of membership to accommodate your interests and situation (see below). You're welcome to contact us to discuss which membership type is most suitable for you.

2026/27 Membership

Individual (regular)

For those with an interest in ageing or aged care, expertise in gerontology either with a research, practitioner or advocacy focus.


Cost: $280.00 
Joining fee: $25.00 (Autumn special - this will be waived)

Early career researcher/practitioner

Early career means having no more than five years’ continuous experience (allowing for career interruption/disruption) since the award of your highest qualification or commencement in your most senior role as a practitioner.

A career interruption/disruption is defined as a prolonged interruption to an applicant’s capacity to work due to: Pregnancy; Major illness/injury; Carer responsibilities. A period of Career disruption is defined as a continuous absence from work of 90 days or more or continuous long term, part time employment with the absences totalling 90 or more calendar days per year. (After five years, taking into account career interruption/disruption, early career researchers/practitioners must convert to an individual membership.)

Student

For current full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students in an area related to ageing (verification of student status may be required).

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

We respectfully offer a waiver of the membership fee for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, in recognition of the depth and importance of First Peoples’ knowledge and voices in shaping AAG and our work.

Organisational bundle

A cost-effective membership offer that enables an organisation's staff to enjoy the full benefits of AAG membership.

To maintain our independence, we do not operate on an 'organisational representative' basis. Rather, members covered by an organisational (group) membership are still treated as individual members. To illustrate, when we develop a position paper, we invite input from individual members, not a representative of a particular organisation.
