2022 Glenda Powell Travelling Fellow

Associate Professor Peter Bragge is the 2022 Glenda Powell Travelling Fellow who will present on the 2022 Hot Topic, How to achieve authentic co-design with and for older Australians

BehaviourWorks Australia lead, Peter specialises in translating research evidence into practice and policy to address challenges faced in health and sustainable development. As Director of Monash Sustainable Development Institute’s Evidence Review Service (ERS), he delivers research and practice reviews to a diverse range of government and industry organisations. Clients have included the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System; Royal Australasian College of Physicians; Transport Accident Commission; Victorian Department of Health; Victorian Department of Transport; National Australia Bank and ANZ Bank.

The ERS review approach is based on co-design, question development, prioritisation and evidence review methods that A/Prof Bragge has developed and published, and also draws upon cutting-edge review science approaches including online evidence maps and virtual evidence libraries. Peter is also leading Monash Sustainable Development Institute’s collaboration with McMaster University in Canada to build the world’s largest evidence resource for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Social Systems Evidence (SSE).

Peter has published over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles including in The Lancet, Lancet NeurologyImplementation ScienceBiological Conservation, Journal of Cleaner Production and Public Administration Review. In 2018 he published his first book, From Roadside to Recovery: The Story of the Victorian State Trauma System. He has also written over 100 reports for government and industry.

Prior to his full-time research career, Peter worked for 10 years as a physiotherapist in public and private practice settings, including one year in the United Kingdom. He also holds a Licentiate from Trinity College London in piano performance (1991) and continues to play, perform and record music. His other hobbies are cycling and playing basketball.
