Professor Christine Stirling
Head of School of Nursing, College of Health and Medicine
University of Tasmania

 
Professor Christine Stirling (Ba Nursing, MPA, PhD) is Head of School of Nursing at the University of Tasmania. She is a Past President and lifetime member of the Australian Association of Gerontology and has contributed to national level policy development. Professor Stirling has led evaluation and mixed method research for two decades, has published over 100 articles, and received over $10 million in grants.
 

 

 

Associate Professor Darshini Ayton
Deputy Head of Health and Social Care Unit
Monash University

Associate Professor Darshini Ayton is the Deputy Head of the Health and Social Care Unit at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) emerging leader fellow (2021-2025). Her program of research links acute care to community and residential aged care and encompasses dementia prevention, innovative diagnostics for dementia and sector-spanning models of care to improve quality of care and quality of life.



 

Professor Piers Dawes
Director of the Centre for Hearing Research (CHEAR)
University of Queensland; University of Manchester

Professor Piers Dawes is Director of the Centre for Hearing Research at the University of Queensland, and Professor of Audiology at the University of Manchester, focuses on understanding hearing impairment causes and impacts in older age, prevention, treatment, and hearing service development. He was a US-UK Fulbright scholar and received the British Society of Audiology’s TS Littler prize. He has been awarded 10 grants as principal investigator in the last 5 years totalling >AUD$14.5 million from competitive sources including the NHMRC, the NIHR, the Alzheimer’s Society UK, the European Commission, industry and charity funders.

Dr Steph Garratt (BA (Hons), MPH (Hons), PhD) is a Research Fellow with the School of Nursing & Midwifery at Monash University. She is a health sociologist with a background in mixed-methods research, currently developing a program of research focused on medication management, care of older adults, and healthcare ethics. She is currently working on a multi-method co-design project funded by the Hal Kendig Research Development Program through the Australian Association of Gerontology.

 

Dr Aung Zaw Zaw Phyo
Research Fellow at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine
Monash University


Dr Aung Zaw Zaw Phyo (MPH, MSc, PhD) is a Research Fellow at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University, Australia. His postdoctoral research mainly focuses on frailty, cardiovascular disease (CVD), dementia and biological ageing. In recognition of the quality and excellence of his work, Aung has received several conference awards and prizes including the “Young Scientist Research Prize - Second Prize (Biomedical and Health Sciences)” from the Royal Society of Victoria, Australia in 2022.

 

Dr Yaping Zhong
Research Fellow at the Nursing and Midwifery
Monash University


Dr Yaping Zhong is a Research Fellow at the Nursing and Midwifery, Monash University. Her current research focuses on co-designing multimedia resources with informal carers from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds to support the transitional care of older adults. Her broader research interests encompass community aged care and issues related to CALD and marginalised populations.
