Diana Matovic
Sub-Committee Member
Diana is a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Psychological Sciences, Macquarie University, Sydney. Diana's doctoral research investigated how positive and negative moods influence social cognition, focusing on communication in particular. Diana now manages a range of projects focused on prevention and treatment of risk factors for poor wellbeing and dementia in older adults (e.g., social isolation, depression). Projects include measuring older adults’ attitudes towards screening for mental disorders and other risk factors for poor wellbeing and dementia in primary care settings, how to best present risk screening and intervention information to older adults, and understanding and optimising the collection and use of primary care data to develop and evaluate a risk screening and risk reduction intervention. Diana also works on related projects such as looking at how older adults’ social activities and relationships have been affected by COVID-19, the mechanisms underlying mental health and wellbeing outcomes relating to older adults’ online social interactions, and the mechanisms underlying positive mood in older adults. Diana has been a member of AAG since 2022 and is keen to support her fellow Early Career Researchers and to support students through her involvement in the AAG NSW SECG committee in 2023.
